ONLINE BILL PAY - UPDATE COMING SOON!
The City of Springfield will soon be offering a new online bill pay option for water and sewer utility bills!
Until the new system is active, you can continue to make payments online through Nebraska Interactive's website by clicking on the link below:
You will need to know your Account Number and Service Address to process online payments through the portal.
Payments made after 11:59 p.m. are posted the next business day. Water bills are due on the 1st day of the month and are considered delinquent after the 5th business day.
All credit / debit card transactions will include a service fee of $1.75 + 2.49% of the transaction amount. All electronic check transactions will include a service fee of $1.75. The City of Springfield does not retain service fees.
Alternate payment options (without additional fees) include payment by check, money order or cash. Payments can be made at City Hall during regular business hours, placed in the City's drop box to the right of the front entrance at City Hall or mailed to City Hall at PO Box 189, Springfield, NE 68059. The City also offers automatic withdrawal (ACH) from your checking or savings account through Horizon Bank of Springfield. You can also set up bill pay through your personal banking service.
Please contact City Hall at 402-253-2204 with any questions.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to improve our utility billing program.
Do I need to complete a utility service application for new service?
Yes. Please contact the Utility Billing Clerk at City Hall to set up a new account for water and sewer services. You will need to complete a Utility Service Application Form prior to your beginning date of service.
Is a security deposit required?
Yes, all new utility customers are charged a $150.00 security deposit which must be paid at the time of application. The deposit covers both water and sewer services. The security deposit is refundable after one year of service, if the customer maintains their account in good standing and is not delinquent on bill payments.
What are the current water rates?
$34.94 per month for 2,000 gallons; $3.49 per 1,000 gallons of usage thereafter
What are the current sewer rates?
$32.00 per month minimum; $4.50 per 1,000 gallons of usage thereafter
Sewer rates are calculated annually based upon the customer's average water usage during the months of December, January and February.
Water and sewer rates shown are for inside city limits. Outside city limit rates are one and one-half times the inside city limit rates.
I am moving, how do I terminate water/sewer service?
Please complete a Request to Terminate Water/Sewer Service Form and return it to City Hall prior to your last date of service.
